JANA BEENS INTERIOR DESIGN
Final Honors Project
This Final Honors Project embodies my identity as a designer, showcasing my values and my approach to crafting innovative solutions to complex challenges.
For this project, I aimed to push my boundaries by addressing a real, pressing issue that I am deeply passionate about: the need for well-designed, inclusive spaces for seniors in care facilities.
Often, seniors in care facilities do not receive the comprehensive care required for a healthy and fulfilling life. To address this, I designed a senior day care facility where surrounding care facilities can bring their residents for enriching outings. This facility offers a range of amenities, including a clinic staffed with certified nurses and occupational therapists, an aqua gym and other physical exercise activities, a library, an IT help centre, a salon, a restaurant, live entertainment, and nature-based activities, all within a thoughtfully designed, inclusive space focused on well-being.
This project presented numerous challenges, as it required accommodating a wide range of disabilities that seniors may experience. Consequently, the space had to be meticulously researched and designed to meet these diverse needs.
