Clients Zara (35) and Sam (40) have enlisted our help in renovating their recently purchased home. Zara, a Graphic Designer with limited mobility, seeks an inclusive and aesthetically pleasing living space. Sam, owner of a solar energy solutions company, values both functionality and style. The house, with three bedrooms, must be adapted to accommodate Zara's mobility challenges. Two bedrooms are required, and the third will serve as Zara's home office.
Design Objectives:
Prioritize accessibility for Zara, minimizing steps and incorporating ramps or gentle inclines.
Ensure safety by eliminating tripping hazards and selecting slip-resistant flooring materials.
Optimize functionality by designing a layout that accommodates Zara's mobility aids.
Create a comfortable ambience with ergonomic furniture and soft furnishings.
Embrace a contemporary interior design that feels open and comfortable.
Provide input on the overall look and feel while maintaining a mindful approach to budget constraints.
Constraints:
External walls must remain unchanged; modifications to windows and doors require justification.
Cost implications associated with structural changes should be minimized.
The design should seamlessly blend accessibility, safety, functionality, comfort, and style, achieving a mid-level cost range that balances tasteful choices with overall project expenses.
